- 2 cups of rose petals
- 1.5 cups water
- 2 cups sugar
- 2 tablespoons organic honey
- 3 teaspoon lemon juice
First, we picked these beautiful fresh roses. Be sure to collect petals from roses that are untreated with pesticides. Once we brought them inside, we washed them and sifted through the petals to remove any bugs from outside.
Next, we crushed the petals in a bowl. Arianna's tiny hands were perfect for this job - and she seemed to really enjoy crushing the petals up with her fingers. We mixed approximately 2 cups of crushed petals with water in a pot, and brought it to a light simmer. Next we added sugar, honey, and fresh squeezed lemon juice. We left it to simmer for about 25 minutes, and watched the beautiful fragrant jam take form. Once it was done, we put the jam in a jar and refrigerated.
The best part! Spreading this delicious jam on toast, topping ice cream with it, or topping my morning yogurt with granola and rose jam. A tiny pinch of cinnamon or nutmeg tastes amazing with it as well.
