Troutdale is located in Agoura Hills, Ca. I first discovered this place when I was visiting a restaurant down the street from Troutdale - right across from the spectacular beauty of the Santa Monica mountains. I went fishing in lake Michigan with my grandfather when I was a little kid-and loved the excitement of catching a fish - so I thought it would be fun to expose my daughter to it. At Troutdale, there is an entry fee of $7 per person - they provide you with a bamboo fishing pole, bucket, corn for bait, icing, and license. They sell worms and powerbait. There is no catch & release at Troutdale, so best to come hungry and cook fish afterwards for dinner - for a 10 inch fish they charge $6 - and for a 14 inch fish they charge $10. If you ask, they will assist you with cleaning your fish. I came on a day where it took awhile to catch something - so your little one may become impatient unless you plan interesting stories to tell during your waiting period and you come after they've already had a nice long nap. Also come prepared with bottles of water to hydrate and snacks. They sell drinks and snacks, but always best to bring exactly what you like and save money. There were a few shady spots to fish, but a lot of the area was exposed to sunlight - so you may want to bring a hat and some extra sunscreen along. If your munchkin gets bored of fishing, there's so much natural beauty to see in the surrounding area - so definitely a fun outing idea.
